WALK AGAINST WARMING 2010
Delay is denial - climate action NOW!

Over 350 people rallied in Wollongong on August 14 for the Walk Against Warming. The weather was beautiful and the vibe was awesome. In addition to speakers, a local school class from St Brigid's sang a song they've written out of concern for climate. One of the students is from Kiribati and the class teacher visited Kiribati to see first-hand the effects of sea-level rise. The song was incredibly moving, thanks heaps to Carmela for lining this up. For pics of the walk see: http://picasaweb.google.com/chrisrusswilliams/WalkAgainstWarming10#
Speakers included Lee Rhiannon, Greens NSW senate candidate; Jess Moore, Socialist Alliance candidate for Cunningham; Genevieve Kelly, NSW secretary, National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU), George Takacs, Greens candidate for Cunningham and Patrick Harrison, Wollongong Uni students' enviro rep and Wollongong Resistance organiser. Rowan did a great job as MC.
After the walk we enjoyed stalls in WA Lang Park, a BBQ and entertainment from local musician Matty Woods. It was great to see so many people hang around. The 'Postcards for Pollies' stall did really well in particular (thanks to Peter and Gina - fantastic job!).

Big thanks to WCAN people and UOW enviro collective for organising everything from the rally, stalls, BBQ, entertainment, etc etc.

We're calling for: 100% renewable energy by 2020; No cash for clunkers; No new coal; Green jobs not job cuts; Climate justice for the Third World.
