The Speakers
Dr Philip Laird is a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Wollongong. His areas of transport research include rail freight and passenger development, energy use in transport and road pricing. He has over 60 land transport publications including, with a joint authored (with Prof Peter Newman et al) book ‘Back on Track; rethinking transport policy in Australia and New Zealand’.
Keely Boom is Legal Officer of the Australian Climate Justice Program and a Lecturer in Law at the University of Wollongong and has worked in the Legal Unit of Greenpeace International in Amsterdam. Keely will show how Transition Towns worldwide are developing resilient and sustainable public transport - and what Illawarra public transport could look like in the future.
